Quick Comment
Create a subject and comment in one step — the fastest way to capture a thought.
~2 minutesThe fastest path to a coached comment
The compose panel is designed so you can go from nothing to a coached comment in under two minutes. Write your thought, tap Save, then coach in the outline. Everything else — source material, subject name, filing — is optional and can be skipped entirely.
Open the compose panel
Click Write a Comment from the dashboard to open the compose form — your comment textarea is front and center.
Write and save
Type your comment and tap Save. That's it. A subject is auto-created and your comment is saved. You'll land in the outline where you can coach it with Hoot.
The speaking-time indicator updates as you type — green means within your time limit, amber is close, red is over.
Review coaching
Your comment appears in the content panel with coaching scores and suggestions displayed in the outliner. Revise, coach again if you want, then mark as ready.
Smart paste: article detection
If you paste Watchtower article HTML into the compose panel, Comment Coach automatically detects it and offers to create a full subject with all paragraphs, study questions, and bilingual content parsed out.
You'll see a detection card showing the article title, language, paragraph count, and study week. Choose Create subject from this article to import everything, or pair it with an existing subject in another language.
Adding source material
When you want the coach to evaluate relevance against specific material, expand the Source material section. You have several options:
- Paste — paste text directly. If you paste a URL, you'll be asked whether to fetch its content.
- URL — enter a web address to fetch and select specific paragraphs from the page.
- Bible — paste Bible chapter text for automatic book and chapter detection (study group context).
- Upload — transcribe an audio file into commentable text.
- Capture — record live audio for real-time transcription.
Filing options
By default, a new subject is auto-created with today's date. To customize:
- Add to existing subject — select from the dropdown to attach your comment to a subject you've already started.
- Custom name — expand the Filing section to set a subject title and date.
- Label — add a label like "Paragraph 3" or "Opening thought" to organize within the subject. When both Label and Subject are provided, the title becomes "Label: Subject" (e.g., "Daily: Thursday, August 20").
- Tags — type a tag and press Enter to add it. Tags appear as colored chips in the outliner and help you filter and find your work later. If you forget to press Enter, tags are saved automatically.
Bilingual comments
After writing your comment, tap + Also add in Spanish to write a Spanish version alongside the English one. Both versions are saved and can be coached independently.
Tips
- Skip the setup — you don't need to name subjects, add sources, or configure anything before writing.
- Source material sharpens coaching — relevance scores are more accurate when the coach knows what you're responding to.
- Smart paste works everywhere — it detects article HTML whether you paste in the comment field or the source field.
