Troubleshooting

Common issues and how to fix them

Blank Screen or Stale Content

If the app shows a blank screen, old content, or doesn't load properly, the browser may be serving a cached version. Follow the steps for your browser:

Safari (iPhone/iPad)

  1. Open Settings on your device
  2. Scroll down to Safari
  3. Tap Advanced at the bottom
  4. Tap Website Data
  5. Search for comment.coach
  6. Swipe left and tap Delete
  7. Return to Safari and reload the page
  8. Log in again

Safari (Mac)

  1. Open Safari → Preferences → Privacy
  2. Click Manage Website Data
  3. Search for comment.coach and remove it
  4. Reload the page and log in again

Chrome (Desktop or Android)

  1. Click the lock icon (or info icon) in the address bar
  2. Click Site settings
  3. Click Clear data
  4. Reload the page and log in again

Alternatively, press Ctrl+Shift+Delete (or Cmd+Shift+Delete on Mac) and clear cached files.

If Installed as a PWA (Home Screen App)

First try the simple fix: close the app completely (swipe it away in the App Switcher) and reopen it. That resolves most stale-content problems.

Only if that fails, reinstall. Deleting the home screen icon also erases anything stored on the device — including publications you imported into your Resource Library. Back that up first.

  1. Delete the app from your home screen
  2. Open the site in your browser
  3. Clear the browser cache as described above
  4. Reload and log in
  5. Re-add to home screen if desired

Login Issues

If you see "Unauthorized" errors after logging in:

  1. Clear the site data as described above
  2. Close all browser tabs with Comment Coach
  3. Open a fresh tab and navigate to the site
  4. Log in again with your email and password

If the problem persists, try using a private/incognito window to confirm your credentials work.

On iPhone or iPad: being asked to sign in again after an iOS update, or when your device is low on storage, is normal — iOS clears saved website data for home screen apps. Nothing in your account is lost. Why this happens.

Research Thread Not Saving

The Research Thread is a Plus feature. Free accounts get one-time analysis results that don't persist. Upgrade to Plus for persistent research threads that save across devices.

Verse Parsing Issues

If pasted verses aren't parsing correctly:

  • For best results, copy text from the website version (preserves paragraph breaks)
  • You can leave the header field empty — the parser auto-detects book and chapter from the text
  • For multiple chapters, use a header like "Jeremiah 11, 12"
  • HTML page source from wol.jw.org is also supported — paste the full source and it will be parsed automatically
